A destitute group of teenage kids in a small desert town are forced into a life of scavenging for scrap when their fathers suddenly abandoned them without warning.

Check out the official trailer for "Don't Come Back From The Moon," an atmospheric slice-of-life drama directed by Bruce Thierry Cheung, a cinematographer who has worked on several James Franco-directed feature films, including "In Dubious Battle," "The Sound and the Fury," and the upcoming "Zeroville."

Franco co-stars alongside Rashida Jones as an unhappy, struggling married couple, however, the film features a cast of mostly young actors, led by newcomer Jeffrey Wahlberg (nephew of Mark Wahlberg).

The film is based on Dean Bakopoulos' novel "Please Don't Come Back from the Moon," which tells the story about a dying American town where a small blue-collar neighborhood is reeling from the fact that most of the local fathers have mysteriously abandoned their children and family.

Winner of a Special Jury Award for Directing at the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival, "Don't Come Back From The Moon" is being released in select theaters and on iTunes and VOD beginning January 18th. Watch the trailer, above.
