It's the true story of how a teenage group of misfits formed the first Norwegian black metal band, which ultimately came to a violent and tragic end.

Check out the first official teasers for "Lords of Chaos," the new film from Swedish black metal musician-turned-acclaimed music video director Jonas Akerlund, who previously helmed the cult deadpan comedies "Spun" and "Small Apartments."

Based on the non-fiction book of the same name by music journalists Michael Moynihan and Didrik Soderlind, the English-language film tells the true story about the rise and fall of the notorious 1980s Norwegian black metal band called "Mayhem," in which its founding members, lead vocalist Per Yngve Ohlin (aka "Dead") and guitarist Oystein Aarseth (aka "Euronymous"), who were forever bonded over their intense love for all things death, metal, and destruction.

Rory Culkin (Castle Rock, Signs), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Jack Kilmer (The Nice Guys), Valter Skarsgard (Arn: The Kingdom at the End of the Road), and Anthony De La Torre (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) star in the film as the young rebellious members of Mayhem. Meanwhile, singer/model Sky Ferreira co-stars as an underground rock photographer who is the girlfriend of Culkin's character.

"Lords of Chaos," which premiered to strong reviews at last year's Sundance Film Festival, is now due to hit theaters on February 8, followed by a VOD release February 22.

A teenager's quest to launch Norwegian Black Metal in Oslo in the 1980s results in a very violent outcome.

LORDS OF CHAOS tells the true story of True Norwegian Black Metal and its most notorious practitioners -- a group of young men with a flair for publicity, church-burning and murder: MAYHEM.
