Having to talk to your mother about sex can be pretty awkward, especially if she's a sex therapist with a very inquisitive mind.

"X-Files" star Gillian Anderson plays the outspoken sex therapist mother of a sexually repressed teen boy (played here by Asa Butterfield) in the official trailer for Netflix's new British coming-of-age series "Sex Education."

The comedy-drama, created and written by Laurie Nunn, centers on Butterfield's Otis, a socially awkward high school virgin who is talked into participating in a cash-for-sex-advice scheme, which is orchestrated by the school's number-one bad girl, Maeve (Emma Mackey), who also happens to be Otis's new high school crush.

Of course, this means, Otis, who is already quite knowledgeable about sex because of his mother's profession, will have to be the school's unofficial sex therapist and will have to hear every kids' darkest and embarrassing sex secrets. Well, it's going to be a helluva school year!

Also starring newcomer Ncuti Gatwa as Otis's closest and best friend, "Sex Education" will run for eight episodes; with the first half of the episodes directed by "Catastrophe" helmer Ben Taylor and the second half directed by up-and-comer Kate Herron.

"Sex Education" premieres January 11, only on Netflix.
