"Doctor Who" star Jodie Whittaker is having problems with adulthood in the official U.S. trailer for the quirky British indie comedy "Adult Life Skills."

The film, which was released in the U.K. back in 2016, but is finally making its way to the States in January, focuses on a 29-year-old recluse named Anna who, after converting her mother's garden shed into her own personal workspace, finds herself spending most of her time making private video movies using her thumbs as puppets. With her 30th birthday fast approaching, Anna's friends and family are concerned that she lacks the skills of being a responsible adult. Anna, of course, doesn't feel the need to "grow up" -- at least any time soon.

First-time feature filmmaker Rachel Tunnard writes and directs the comedy, which is based on her 2014 BAFTA-nominated short film, "Emotional Fusebox," which also starred Whittaker.

Co-starring Lorraine Ashbourne, Eileen Davies, Alice Lowe, David Anderson, Rachael Deering, and Brett Goldstein, "Adult Life Skills" is coming to select U.S. theaters and on-demand January 18, 2019.

synopsis:
