Elle Fanning sings her heart out as she plays a young aspiring pop singer in the upcoming British musical drama "Teen Spirit," for which an official trailer has been released.
The forthcoming film, featuring songs by Robyn, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Annie Lennox, Grimes, Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, and Tegan & Sara, and also includes the original song "Wildflowers" produced by Grammy-winning indie rocker Jack Antonoff and performed by Fanning herself, follows the Cinderella-like story of an introverted British ingenue who competes in a national singing competition where she soon becomes the odds-on favorite with the help from an unlikely mentor.
Hailing from "La La Land" producer Fred Berger, "Teen Spirit" marks the directorial debut of "Social Network" and "The Handmaid's Tale" actor Max Minghella, who is also the son of the late, Oscar-winning filmmaker Anthony Minghella.
Co-starring Rebecca Hall (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women), Agnieszka Grochowska (Child 44), and Zlatko Buric (the Pusher Trilogy), the film, which premiered at this year's Toronto International Film Festival, will get a U.S. theatrical release sometime in the spring of 2019.
