Christopher Abbott (Vox Lux, First Man) and Mia Wasikowska (Crimson Peak, Alice in Wonderland) get together for an evening of twisted seduction, sexual perversion, and penetrating depravity in the new red band trailer for "Piercing."

Writer-director Nicolas Pesce, whose film debut "The Eyes of My Mother" had earned him numerous accolades back in 2016 and in turn has been marked as a rising horror director to watch, makes a stylish second feature effort, adapting the 1994 horror novel by cult Japanese writer Ryu Murakami, widely known for penning the source material for director Takashi Miike's 1999 horror classic "Audition."

In the film, Abbott plays Reed, a mentally unstable married man with a newborn baby. While fearing he may give in to his homicidal urges and harm his child, Reed sets out to quench his bloodlust, devising a perverted scheme to discreetly murder a young prostitute (played by Wasikowska) inside a hotel room. The tables, however, get turned on him when his so-called unsuspecting victim turns out to be more predator than prey ... and possibly more psychotic than he is.

Co-starring Laia Costa (Life Itself, Victoria), "Piercing," which premiered to mostly positive reviews back in January at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, will be released in theaters, on-demand, and digital February 1, 2019.
