Academy Award-winner J.K. Simmons plays an emotionally distraught man who is sorting through the memories of his fractured past in the newly-released trailer for the drama "I'm Not Here."

Also, starring Sebastian Stan (from the Avengers films), Maika Monroe (It Follows), Mandy Moore (NBC's This Is Us), and Max Greenfield (FOX's New Girl), the film tells the heart-rending story of a middle-aged man named Steve (Simmons), who finds himself drowning in a pool of grief and sadness while he saunters through an empty house that once belonged to him and his wife. With each turn and step, he recalls pivotal moments in his life, dating back to his marriage, as well as his childhood.

Told through a series of flashbacks, throughout several decades, the drama casts Sebastian Stan as the younger version of Simmons' character, Steve. Maika Monroe plays Steve's wife, Karen, while Mandy Moore and Max Greenfield appear as Steve's parents. Iain Armitage (star of CBS' Young Sheldon) also co-stars, playing Steve as a young boy.

"I'm Not Here" is directed and co-written by Michelle Schumacher, who also happens to be J.K. Simmons' wife. The film is hitting theaters and VOD on March 8, 2019.

synopsis:
Having cut himself off from the world, Steve can no longer run away from the demons of his past. Nothing will silence the voices in his head. With his world coming apart, Steve hopes he can twist his reality and change his fate. He connects the events of his life to discover how he ended up alone and broken but maybe there is still hope.
