PEN15: Season 1 — Official Teaser Trailer

added: Fri, Dec 21st '18

Hulu has released the first official teaser trailer for "PEN15," a new comedy series about the awkward struggles of middle school, which is being executive produced by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone (better known together as The Lonely Island).

The 10-episode series takes place in the year 2000, and it stars Maya Erskine (from HBO's Insecure and FX's Man Seeking Woman) and Anna Konkle (from FOX's Rosewood) as two 13-year-old best friends who find themselves dealing with social anxiety as they try to overcome their 7th-grade awkwardness.

"PEN15" is created and written by real-life best friends Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle, along with director Sam Zvibleman. And the series is inspired by Erskine and Konkle's true-life middle school stories.

Though despite being full-grown adults, Erskine and Konkle are playing semi-fictional versions of themselves as 13-year-olds (rather convincingly, judging by the footage). While the rest of the cast are actual 13-year-old kid actors.

"PEN15" is scheduled to premiere on Hulu beginning February 8, 2019.

PEN15 is middle school as it really happened.

Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle star in this adult comedy, playing versions of themselves as thirteen-year-old outcasts in the year 2000, surrounded by actual thirteen-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.
