Netflix has released the official U.S. trailer for the upcoming CG-animated adaptation of "Watership Down," the award-winning 1972 novel by English novelist Richard Adams, which features an all-star voice cast that includes James McAvoy (Split), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Ben Kingsley (Schindler's List), John Boyega (Star Wars), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men), Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace), and Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out).

Directed by former commercial helmer-turned-feature film director Noam Murro (300: Rise of an Empire, Smart People), the four-part miniseries follows the precarious journey of a migrant group of rabbits who were forced to flee their home, only to relocate to a new territory ruled by a tyrannical rabbit dictator -- the terrifying General Woundwort (voiced by Kingsley).

The book "Watership Down" was previously adapted into a cult 1978 cartoon film of the same name, which, despite some controversy over its disturbing depiction of rabbit death scenes, is still considered as one of the best British animated movies of all time.

A co-production between Netflix and BBC, "Watership Down" is scheduled to be released worldwide on December 23rd. It will be airing in the U.K. on BBC One, while U.S. audiences can check it out on Netflix.
