Presented by Alamo Drafthouse and American Genre Film Archive, here's your chance to check out the cult 1989 French Christmas sensation, which has been described as "Home Alone" meets "Rambo" meets "Die Hard" meets "Bad Santa."

Made a year before the theatrical release of "Home Alone," "Dial Code Santa Claus" (also known as "Deadly Games" or "Game Over") is an R-rated action holiday horror about a young French boy who, after being left alone on Christmas Eve, finds himself protecting his house from a sadistic Santa Claus who has just killed his beloved dog.

Written and directed by cult French filmmaker Rene Manzor, "Dial Code Santa Claus," which is better known in France as "3615 code Pere Noel," was, until recently, only available in the U.S. through VHS bootlegs. But because of the good folks at Alamo Drafthouse and AGFA, the cult French film has been recently restored and is finally making its Stateside debut this week.

Following a well-received U.S. premiere at this year's Fantastic Fest, "Dial Code Santa Claus" will be released this week in Alamo Drafthouse theaters and a few other specialty cinema houses, beginning today in Denver and Washington D.C. and on Wednesday in Los Angeles and New York; with other cities to follow throughout the month.

The film will eventually be made available on Blu-ray sometime in 2019. Until then, watch the newly-released trailer, above.

synopsis:
American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) restored DIAL CODE SANTA CLAUS was made a year before HOME ALONE. But it is what happens when you take HOME ALONE, RAMBO, excessive blood and style and set the blender on maximum.

Thomas is a typical 1980s kid: he loves computers, role-playing games, and his dog. While mom is away at the office on Christmas Eve, Thomas and his grandfather are left home alone -- perfect timing for a disgruntled, perverted, bloodthirsty Santa Claus to raid the home down the chimney. But Hell hath no fury like a mulleted ten-year-old with an arsenal of toys!
