Based on the writings of legendary action superstar Bruce Lee, check out the very first teaser trailer for "Warrior," an upcoming martial-arts crime series that spent nearly 50 years in development.

Executive produced by Shannon Lee (Bruce's daughter), and hailing from "Banshee" co-creator Jonathan Tropper and "Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin, "Warrior" is a new Cinemax original series based on an old treatment script written by the late, martial-arts icon.

(The same concept was later retooled by Warner Bros and renamed "Kung Fu," which ran for three seasons in the '70s, but Lee was never credited for the story idea).

Set against the backdrop of the "Tong Wars" in the late 1800s, the Cinemax action series takes place in the city of San Francisco's Chinatown, as different Chinese and Chinese-American street gangs find themselves at war with each other as they plot to take over each other's territories.

London-born actor Andrew Koji (from Netflix's The Innocents) is cast as the lead, playing a Chinese immigrant named Ah Sahm, who is a gifted martial arts prodigy, sent to San Francisco for a better life, only to get caught up in the escalating violence between warring Chinese gangs.

The cast of the ten-episode series also includes Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Joanna Vanderham, Hoon Lee, Tom Weston-Jones, Kieran Bew, Dean S. Jagger, Christian McKay, Perry Yung, Joe Taslim, Langley Kirkwood and Rich Ting.

"Warrior" is set to air sometime in 2019 on Cinemax. In the meantime, check out the show's newly-released 30-second teaser, above.
