Netflix has unveiled the first official teaser trailer for "The Umbrella Academy," the forthcoming live-action adaptation of the award-winning Dark Horse comic book series created by Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Ba.

The ten-episode Netflix series, which is executive produced by Steve Blackman (Fargo, Altered Carbon) along with Jeremy Slater (creator of FOX's The Exorcist), features a strong ensemble cast that includes Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Colm Feore, Tom Hopper, Cameron Britton, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Adam Godley, Aidan Gallagher, David Castaneda, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, and Kate Walsh.

With the pilot episode written by Slater and directed by Peter Hoar (Daredevil, Altered Carbon), the stylish action drama centers on a dysfunctional family of seven superheroes who were each born mysteriously to virgin mothers, yet raised in the same specialized orphanage/superhero academy. When their adoptive father, the world-renowned eccentric billionaire inventor Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore), suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances, the seven estranged superhero siblings reunite to investigate his death, and also to once again save the world from a new threat.

"The Umbrella Academy," in which Gerard Way is serving as co-executive producer, will premiere on Netflix February 15, 2019. Watch the first-look teaser, above.
