Kenneth Branagh portrays a retired and weary William Shakespeare in the official trailer for "All Is True," a period drama that depicts the final years in the renowned playwright's life.

Also directed by Branagh, the film takes place in 1613, three years before Shakespeare's death. Now retired and unable to write, Shakespeare finds himself returning to his home town of Stratford, where he is burned out by fame, yet deeply anguished by his life choices. He regrets his decision to leave his wife and family and tries to make amends.

In addition to Branagh, the film also stars Judi Dench as Shakespeare's long-suffering wife, Anne Hathaway, and Ian McKellen as Shakespeare's confidante, Henry Wriothesley.

Written by English comedian, political satirist, and playwright Ben Elton (Blackadder, The Thin Blue Line), "All Is True" is receiving an Oscar-qualifying one-week limited release on December 21st before getting a traditional theatrical rollout sometime in 2019. Watch the trailer, above.
