"This Is Us" star Chrissy Metz plays a religious mother who believes in the healing power of prayer in the official trailer for the new faith-based drama "Breakthrough."

The film is based on the inspirational true story of Joyce Smith, a Missouri housewife who asked her small-town community to pray for her comatose teenage son after he accidentally fell through a frozen lake and was immediately declared clinically dead.

Also, starring Josh Lucas (Yellowstone), Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Marcel Ruiz (One Day at a Time), Sam Trammell (True Blood) and Dennis Haysbert (24, The Unit), the drama is marking the feature directorial debut of actress-turned-TV helmer Roxann Dawson (House of Cards, The Americans).

The film was adapted for the screen by Grant Nieporte (Seven Pounds) from Joyce Smith's own best-selling memoir "The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother's Faith and Her Child's Resurrection."

"Breakthrough" is coming to theaters on Easter 2019.
