Matthew McConaughey is a fishing boat captain who is tempted into committing murder in the new official trailer for the sultry island-set thriller "Serenity."

Reuniting with his "Interstellar" co-star Anne Hathaway, McConaughey plays Baker Dill, a fisherman living in a remote tropical island. When his ex-wife, Karen (Hathaway), tracks him down and offers him 10 million dollar to kill her abusive husband (Jason Clarke) at sea, Baker soon finds himself embroiled in a murder plot that quickly escalates from being a strange proposition to becoming an enticing offer imbued with strong sexual temptation.

Co-starring Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou, and Jeremy Strong, the steamy thriller is written and directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight, who is also the creator of the award-winning British gangster series "Peaky Blinders."

"Serenity" is scheduled to hit theaters January 25. Watch the new trailer, above.

Baker Dill (Matthew McConaughey) is a fishing boat captain leading tours off a tranquil, tropical enclave called Plymouth Island. His quiet life is shattered, however, when his ex-wife Karen (Anne Hathaway) tracks him down with a desperate plea for help. She begs Dill to save her -- and their young son -- from her new, violent husband (Jason Clarke) by taking him out to sea on a fishing excursion, only to throw him to the sharks and leave him for dead. Karen’s appearance thrusts Dill back into a life he’d tried to forget, and as he struggles between right and wrong, his world is plunged into a new reality that may not be all that it seems.
