This is World War I, like you've never seen it before. It's incredibly haunting, profoundly intimate, and it's also now in full color!

Check out the new official U.S. trailer for "They Shall Not Grow Old," an upcoming historical documentary about the Great War, which is hailing from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" film series).

With this year marking the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War I, the Jackson-directed documentary features rarely-seen 100-year-old archival footage that was meticulously restored into pristine high definition and modified into color for the first time ever.

Digitally reconstructed with an all-encompassing sound design, including foley sound effects, background military noises, reenacted narrations and snippets from archival BBC interviews, the documentary offers an immersive look at the day-to-day lives of real-life WWI soldiers who were fighting on the front-lines.

"They Shall Not Grow Old," which already opened across the U.K. this month, will have a special two-night theatrical event in the U.S., opening in select theaters on December 17 and December 27, only.

synopsis:
The acclaimed documentary is an extraordinary look at the soldiers and events of the Great War, using film footage captured at the time, now presented as the world has never seen. By utilizing state-of-the-art restoration, colorization and 3D technologies, and pulling from 600 hours of BBC archival interviews, Jackson puts forth an intensely gripping, immersive and authentic experience through the eyes and voices of the British soldiers who lived it.
