"Blindspot" star Sullivan Stapleton plays a reckless soldier who leads a small military team on an unauthorized mission to recover stolen Nazi gold bars from the bottom of an Eastern European lake in the trailer for "American Renegades," an old-school action thriller produced and co-written by Luc Besson (creator of the action franchises "Taken," "La Femme Nikita," and "Transporter").

Set against the backdrop of the 1995 Bosnian War, the film, which is directed by action helmer Steven Quale (Into the Storm, Final Destination 5), was originally scheduled to be released in early 2017, but was delayed due to the distribution woes of Besson's French film company EuropaCorp. The film, though, was released internationally last year. And in a number of foreign markets, it is already available on home entertainment.

Featuring a guest appearance by Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as an angry military commander, "American Renegades" is finally making its way to the U.S. next month, hitting select theaters on December 21 before arriving on VOD and Digital platforms on December 25th. It will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD January 22nd.
