Check out a new extended spot for "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," the much buzzed-about animated superhero film from executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of "The Lego Movie" and the "Jump Street" comedies.

The 3D animated action film is set within an alternate "Spider" universe, in which alternate-dimension versions of Spider-man -- including Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore), a middle-aged Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), and a Spider-Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) -- find themselves joining forces to protect the city from a mysterious villain.

Nicolas Cage and comedian John Mulaney are also lending their voices to the movie. Cage plays Spider-Man Noir, who is a dark steampunk version of Spider-Man who comes from an alternate Depression-Era timeline. While Mulaney offers some comic relief as Spider-Ham, aka Peter Porker -- he's a cartoon pig version of the wall crawler.

Directed by animators Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey (Rise of the Guardians), and co-directed by screenwriter Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street), "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is coming to theaters December 14th.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that's the first of its kind. "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
