Check out the first official trailer for "The Secret Life Of Pets 2," the much-anticipated sequel to the 2016 animated blockbuster from Illumination Entertainment, the animation company that brought you the "Despicable Me" franchise and the upcoming "Dr. Seuss' The Grinch."

This time around, the animated film, which again offers a comedic look at the private lives of household pets, is starring the voice of comedian Patton Oswalt as Max, the dog -- a neurotic Jack Russell Terrier who lives in a Manhattan apartment with his human owner, Katie (voiced by Ellie Kemper).

The trailer shows Katie taking Max on a trip to the local veterinarian's office, where he soon finds himself sitting in a waiting room filled with strange pets suffering from behavioral disorders.

Once again directed by Chris Renaud (Despicable Me series, Dr. Seuss' The Lorax) and again written by Brian Lynch (Minions), "The Secret Life Of Pets 2" will be released theatrically next summer on June 7, 2019.

THE SECRET LIFE OF PET 2 will follow summer 2016's blockbuster about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy will produce the sequel to the comedy that had the best opening ever for an original film, animated or otherwise.
