Netflix has unveiled the first look at Henry Cavill (Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Justice League) as Geralt of Rivia, from the much-anticipated adaptation of the popular fantasy franchise "The Witcher."

While sporting a long white mane, and a leather-clad getup, Cavill can be seen slowly stepping into frame and taking a swig from a potion bottle in this costume test footage from the upcoming Netflix original series.

The show is based on the international best-selling fantasy novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, which was also developed into a popular fantasy action role-playing video game.

The story follows a monster hunter (Cavill) with special supernatural abilities as he travels across the continent hunting down deadly beasts for a living. Though he prefers to work alone, he finds himself teaming up with a sorceress and a young princess as they embark on an epic quest to save the kingdom from evil.

Executive producer-writer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Daredevil, The Defenders, The Umbrella Academy) is serving as show-runner, while "House of Cards" director Alik Sakharov helms the first two episodes of the eight-episode series.

Co-starring Freya Allan, Jodhi May, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, Anya Chalotra, and MyAnna Buring, "The Witcher" is slated for a 2019 release.
