Bird Box — Official Trailer

If the horror blockbuster "A Quiet Place" asked, how could a family survive a dangerous post-apocalyptic world without saying a single word -- well, then, Sandra Bullock's new post-apocalyptic horror thriller might be asking the same question, but with a slight twist -- instead of everyone staying silent, everyone must stay blindfolded.

Check out the official trailer for "Bird Box," a new Netflix original horror movie that stars Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock as a mother of two young children who finds herself trying to keep her family safe and protected when a bizarre epidemic suddenly sweeps across the world, producing a wave of mass suicides, possibly brought on by the sight of a mysterious supernatural entity.

Based on Josh Malerman's best-selling novel of the same name, and adapted by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Eric Heisserer (Arrival), "Bird Box" also stars Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, and Lil Rel Howery.

Directed by award-winning Danish director Susanne Bier, whose credits include the Emmy-winning miniseries "The Night Manager" and the Oscar-winning Danish drama "In a Better World," "Bird Box" is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on December 21st. It will also open in select U.S. theaters on that same date.

When a mysterious force decimates the world's population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they'll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.
