It's his first movie since the cult British alien-invasion comedy "Attack the Block," filmmaker Joe Cornish makes his triumphant return. And this time, he is putting a modern-day and kid-friendly spin on the classic Arthurian legends of King Arthur's Round Table and his mythical sword Excalibur.

Check out the first official trailer for Cornish's upcoming modern-day fantasy movie "The Kid Who Would Be King," which tells the adventurous story of a 12-year-old British schoolboy, named Alex (played here by "Alice Through the Looking Glass" actor Louis Ashbourne Serkis; son of motion-capture master Andy Serkis), who embarks on an epic quest to save the world after he pulls a mythical sword from a stone.

The cast also includes Angus Imrie as the young incarnation of the wizard Merlin, Patrick Stewart (Logan, X-Men) as the old Merlin, and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Fallout, The Greatest Showman) as the medieval villain Morgana, who is hell-bent on destroying the world. Meanwhile, kid actors Tom Taylor, Rhianna Dorris, and Dean Chaumoo round out the cast as Alex's band of would-be warriors.

"The Kid Who Would Be King" is scheduled to be released in the U.S. January 25th and in the U.K. on February 15th.
