The official trailer has been released for the post-WWII drama "The Aftermath," starring Keira Knightley, Alexander Skarsgard, and Jason Clarke.

Set in Hamburg, Germany 1946, following the conclusion of World War II, the film begins with a British colonel (Clarke), who is assigned to rebuild the war-ravaged German city, has invited his wife (Knightley) to stay with him for the winter. When she arrives, the colonel takes her to their temporary quarters, a sprawling German estate recently seized from a wealthy German widower (Skarsgard) who is believed to have been a Nazi collaborator during the war.

Sympathetic to the widower's tragic story of losing his wife, the colonel allows him and his young daughter to remain in their home. Though initially repulsed by the idea of sharing the same house with a German man, the colonel's wife gradually grows more and more attracted to the widower. And it gets to the point that they both can no longer resist their carnal urges.

Produced by Ridley Scott and directed by James Kent (Testament of Youth), "The Aftermath," which is an adaptation of Rhidian Brook's novel of the same name, is due out in theaters April 26, 2019.

synopsis:
