Netflix has released the official U.S. trailer for "Bodyguard," the hit British political action thriller series that stars "Game of Thrones" alum Richard Madden as a PTSD-afflicted war veteran-turned-security officer assigned to protect Britain's Home Secretary (played by Keeley Hawes) who is being targeted in a terrorist plot.

Created and written by acclaimed British TV writer Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Strike Back, Bodies), the six-episode, hour-long drama has already premiered to massive ratings in the U.K., becoming the biggest British show of the year.

Co-starring Gina McKee (In the Loop, Notting Hill) and Sophie Rundle (Peaky Blinders), the first three episodes of the series is directed by French-born TV helmer Thomas Vincent (Versailles, Borgia) while the last three installments are helmed by BAFTA-nominee John Strickland (Prime Suspect 2, Line of Duty, Bodies).

"Bodyguard" is set to make its US debut next week, streaming Wednesday, October 24 on Netflix.

synopsis:
Set in and around the corridors of power, Bodyguard tells the fictional story of David Budd (Richard Madden), a heroic, but volatile war veteran now working as a Specialist Protection Officer for the Royalty and Specialist Branch (RasP) of London's Metropolitan Police Service. When he is assigned to protect the ambitious and powerful Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), Budd finds himself torn between his duty and his beliefs. Responsible for her safety, could he become her biggest threat?
