Fresh from its premiere at this year's New York Comic Con, here's another look at the much-anticipated Season 2 of the hit streaming CBS show "Star Trek: Discovery," which is set in an alternate timeline and roughly a decade before the events of the original series.

In addition to featuring brand-new footage from the new season, in which producers have added U.S.S. Enterprise Captain Christopher Pike (played by "Hell on Wheels" star Anson Mount) to the cast of the sci-fi series, the new trailer offers our first look at up-and-coming actor Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck) as a young and bearded Spock.

"Discovery" stars Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) as science first officer Michael Burnham who at a young age was placed under the guardianship of Spock's father, Vulcan ambassador Sarek (played by recurring guest star James Frain), and was raised as Spock's adoptive human sister.

Season 2 will be the first time we see Burnham interact with her brother, Spock, who plays an important part in the show's new story arc.

Also returning to the series is Doug Jones as Discovery's first officer, the alien Saru; Anthony Rapp as Discovery's chief engineer and science officer Paul Stamets, and Mary Wiseman as Discovery's science cadet Sylvia Tilly.

Besides Ethan Peck, new to the cast of Season 2 includes comedian Tig Notaro as an engineer officer and Rebecca Romijn as Captain Pike's Number One. Meanwhile, Michelle Yeoh is making a surprise return as Philippa Georgiou.

"Star Trek: Discovery: Season 2" is set to premiere January 17, 2018 exclusively on the streaming service CBS All Access, with episodes to be release on a weekly basis.
