It's time to release the Beast! To get what he wants, the evil Thaddeus Valentine (Hugo Weaving) is willing to do anything, even unleash a glowing green-eyed beast named "Shrike" (played by Stephen Lang) from his jail cell to kill the runaway fugitive, Hester Shaw.

Check out a new official trailer for the Peter Jackson-produced steampunk adventure thriller "Mortal Engines," starring newcomers Hera Hilmar and Robert Sheehan as post-apocalyptic fugitives on the run trying to save their traveling world from going in the wrong direction.

Making his directorial debut is Oscar-winning visual-effects and storyboard artist Christian Rivers, who has worked with co-writer and producer Peter Jackson for over 25 years. The film also co-stars Colin Salmon, Leila George, Rege-Jean Page, Ronan Raftery, and South Korean pop star/actress Jihae as the resistance leader named Anna Fang.

"Mortal Engines" is on track to open in theaters everywhere starting on December 14th.

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan) -- who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London -- finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.
