The Mule — Official Trailer

Clint Eastwood makes his triumphant return, starring in his first movie since 2012's "Trouble with the Curve" and his first time working both sides of the camera since 2009's "Gran Torino."

Watch the 88-year-old Hollywood legend as he portrays a financially desperate man in his 80s who gets drawn into the dark world of drug smuggling in the first official trailer for "The Mule."

The upcoming crime drama, which features a stellar supporting cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Pena, Dianne Wiest, Andy Garcia, Alison Eastwood, and Taissa Farmiga, is inspired by the New York Times Magazine article "The Sinaloa Cartels' 90-Year-Old Drug Mule" by journalist Sam Dolnick.

Eastwood plays Earl Stone, an elderly businessman who, while facing foreclosure and mounting bills, is roped into becoming a drug mule for a nefarious Mexican cartel. He soon becomes the target of an on-going DEA investigation led by two hard-charging agents (played by Cooper and Pena).

Written by "Gran Torino" scribe Nick Schenk, "The Mule" is slated for a December 14th theatrical release.

Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well--so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him.
