Kevin Hart is hired to help a wheelchair-bound Bryan Cranston in the first official trailer for the forthcoming heartfelt comedy "The Upside," which also stars Nicole Kidman.

Directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Limitless, Divergent), the film is an American remake of the 2011 French blockbuster "Les Intouchables (The Intouchables)" about the true story of a physically-challenged billionaire who hires a reformed ex-convict to be his personal caregiver.

The remake casts Cranston as the short-tempered quadriplegic Phillip while Hart plays his unlikely nurse, Dell.

Nicole Kidman, meanwhile, plays Yvonne, Phillip's longtime personal assistant and right-hand woman.

Written by Jon Hartmere, "The Upside," which premiered a year ago at the Toronto International Film Festival, was stuck in limbo for the better part of this year. It was one of the films affected by the Harvey Weinstein scandal. As the Weinstein Company eventually folded under, the film's distribution rights were acquired by STX Entertainment a couple of months ago.

The studio is now planning to release the film on January 11th.
