"Kingsman" star Taron Egerton takes off on a "wild ride" as he portrays Grammy-winning legend Elton John during his breakthrough years as a young rock star in the very first teaser trailer for the upcoming musical biopic "Rocketman."

The film, which is based on a "true fantasy" and written by Oscar-nominated writer Lee Hall (Billy Elliot, War Horse), tells the remarkable true story of how a young, struggling pub piano player from England became the biggest and most famous piano rocker in the world.

Primarily taking place throughout the late 1960s and 1970s -- and will also chronicle Elton's infamous cocaine addiction period, the film also stars Jamie Bell (Snowpiercer, King Kong) as a young Bernie Taupin, the brilliant English music lyricist who became Elton's longtime songwriting partner and who is famous for writing the lyrics for all of Elton's greatest hits, including "Rocket Man," "Tiny Dancer," "Bennie and the Jets," and "Candle in the Wind," among others.

Former "Game of Thrones" star Richard Madden also co-stars, portraying Elton's famous music manager John Reid, while Bryce Dallas Howard has been cast to play Elton's mother, Sheila Eileen.

"Rocketman" is directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Dexter Fletcher, who previously helmed the Olympic ski jumping dramedy "Eddie the Eagle" and who just recently came in to complete the Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" after director Bryan Singer was fired in the final weeks of production by the film's studio.

"Rocketman" is coming to theaters next year, opening worldwide on May 31st.
