"House of Cards" star Michael Kelly plays a degenerate gambler and small-time bookie who has managed to turn a local youth baseball league into a profitable gambling racket in the trailer for the betting-on-baseball comedy "All Square," which seems to be tonally in the vein of "Bad News Bears" and "Bad Santa."

The Audience Award Winner at this year's SXSW Film Festival, the indie comedy also stars Pamela Adlon (creator and star of FX's "Better Things") as the ex-girlfriend and Jesse Ray Sheps as her 12-year-old son who is a baseball pitcher for a little league team. Kelly's prickly character becomes the boy's unlikely mentor, a la Walter Matthau or Billy Bob Thornton.

The cast also includes Josh Lucas (TV's Yellowstone), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (HBO's The Wire), and Tom Everett Scott (Netflix's 13 Reasons Why).

Directed by TV helmer John Hyams (son of veteran genre director Peter Hyams) and written by Timothy Brady, "All Square" will be released in theaters and on VOD October 12th.
