Green Book — Extended TV Spot

Check out an extended TV spot for "Green Book," director Peter Farrelly's much-buzzed-about new film inspired by the true story of how an Italian-American bouncer-turned-driver from the Bronx named Tony Lip Vallelonga (played here by Viggo Mortensen) formed an unlikely friendship with an African-American classical concert pianist named Dr. Don Shirley (played by Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali) as they drove through the American Deep South during the segregation-era of the 1960s.

The film, which also stars Linda Cardellini, has generated a good amount of Oscar buzz since premiering to rave reviews at this year's Toronto International Film Festival where it won the coveted People's Choice Award, an honor that generally goes to films that end up becoming best picture Oscar nominees.

"Green Book," which marks Peter Farrelly's first solo directorial effort and his first foray into dramatic work, will be released theatrically on November 21st.

Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali star in Participant Media and DreamWorks Pictures' Green Book. In his foray into powerfully dramatic work as a feature director, Peter Farrelly helms the film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.

When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on "The Green Book" to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger -- as well as unexpected humanity and humor -- they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.
