Check out the official trailer for Season 2 of Netflix's edgy adult animated comedy series "Big Mouth," which comes from the twisted minds of comedian Nick Kroll and "Family Guy" writer Andrew Goldberg.

Loosely based on Kroll and Goldberg's own real-life experiences as childhood best friends going through the dreadful and embarrassing process of puberty, the semi-biographical half-hour comedy series has Kroll providing the voice of his fictionalized younger self, while Goldberg's animated tween self is voiced by comedian John Mulaney.

Kroll also provides the voice of the Hormone Monster, an imaginary character who represents the darkest side of puberty.

Meanwhile, stand-up comedienne and comedy writer Jessi Klein offers the female side of adolescence, as she voices Jessi, a sarcastic school girl who has her own Hormone Monstress (voiced by former SNL cast member Maya Rudolph) to deal with.

Among those returning to lend their voices are Jason Mantzoukas, Jenny Slate, Jordan Peele, and Fred Armisen, while David Thewlis (as the Shame Wizard) and Gina Rodriguez (as the new girl at school) have been added to the voice cast of Season 2.

Co-created and executive produced by Kroll and Goldberg along with the husband-and-wife writing team of Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (Journey to the Center of the Earth, Wimbledon, Nim's Island), "Big Mouth: Season 2" is set to premiere October 5 on Netflix.

Teenage friends find their lives upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty in this edgy comedy from real-life pals Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg.
