Amazon has released the new official trailer for "Beautiful Boy," the drug-addiction/father-son drama starring Steve Carell and "Call Me by Your Name" breakout star Timothee Chalamet.

Based on a true story, the film sees Carell as a loving father who desperately wants to help his troubled son get off drugs. Unfortunately, they both realize that getting clean is easier said than done.

As Chalamet, who plays Carell's drug addicted son, professes in the trailer, "It's hard as hell to get sober. But I love my family. I want them to be proud of me."

The film, which just premiered last week to strong reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival, is told through both father and son's perspectives, and is based on David Sheff's bestselling memoir "Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction," and it's also based on Nic Sheff's own bestselling memoir "Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines."

Acclaimed Belgian director Felix Van Groeningen, who previously made the Oscar-nominated foreign drama "The Broken Circle Breakdown," directs the film, from an adapted screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Luke Davies (Lion, Candy).

Co-starring Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan, "Beautiful Boy" is due to open in select theaters on October 12th, via Amazon Studios.
