Former "Teen Wolf" actor Tyler Hoechlin, who's currently guest-starring as Superman on the CW superhero series "Supergirl," is taking on another famous musclebound icon for the upcoming Joe Weider biopic "Bigger," for which a trailer has been released.

Hoechlin portrays the famed Canadian-born Polish bodybuilder-turned-entrepreneur who in the 1960s created "Mr. Olympia," the world famous professional men's bodybuilding contest, which is known for launching the international career of a then-unknown Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The film also stars professional dancer-turned-actress Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages, Footloose) as Betty Brosmer, a famous fitness star and pin-up/magazine model who became Joe Weider's wife and spokeswoman.

British actor Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk) also stars in the movie as Joe's brother and business partner Ben Weider, while Kevin Durand (from FX's "The Strain" and "3:10 to Yuma") takes on the role of the brothers' number-one rival, fitness magazine publisher Bill Hauk.

The cast also includes Victoria Justice, Max Martini, Tom Arnold, Steve Guttenberg, Nadine Lewington, DJ Qualls, and Robert Forster with Colton Haynes (CW's Arrow) as a young Jack Lalanne and Australian bodybuilder Calum Von Moger as a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Bigger" is directed and co-written by screenwriter/filmmaker George Gallo, who is perhaps best known for writing the Robert De Niro-and-Charles Grodin crime comedy "Midnight Run" and the original story for "Bad Boys." Gallo is also known for writing and directing the true-crime e-commerce dramedy "Middle Men."

The film arrives in select theaters on October 12th.

synopsis:
The fathers of the fitness industry Joe and Ben Weider battle anti-Semitism, conventional wisdom and extreme poverty to launch the fitness industry as we know it. Along the way they champion women's rights, sexual freedom, fight discrimination in all forms ... and discover a guy named Arnold Schwarzenegger. Against all odds they launched the gym movement and created an empire.
