An official trailer has been released for the new Amazon original series "The Romanoffs," which is written and directed by Emmy-winning "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner.

Comprised of eight standalone episodes, "The Romanoffs" is an anthology streaming drama that takes place within three continents and over seven countries and features eight stories about the contemporary lives of several characters who claim to be the descendants of the famous Romanoff dynasty.

The series is inspired by the mythical history of the House of Romanov, who were historically known as a famous Russian royal family that was executed during the 1917 Russian revolution. And as a result of the family's tragic demise, many people pretended to be their true descendants. And to this day, people around the world with the Romanoff name discover that they are, indeed, not a true Romanoff, but rather the descendant of a Romanoff pretender.

The cast of the Amazon series boasts an all-star lineup of esteemed actors, including Diane Lane, Aaron Eckhart, Isabelle Huppert, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, Kathryn Hahn, Radha Mitchell, Kerry Bishe, and Corey Stoll.

"The Romanoffs" arrives on Amazon Prime Video beginning Friday, October 12th.
