Susan Sarandon desperately tries to free her captured son in the new official trailer for the cloak-and-dagger hostage drama "Viper Club."

The 71-year-old Oscar winner plays an ER nurse who learns her journalist son has just been captured by terrorists while reporting in Syria.

Unable to make any headway with the U.S. government, Sarandon's character tries a different route. She goes underground, connecting herself with a secret network of advocates and negotiators. They instruct her on how to raise enough money to pay off the 20 million ransom in secret. While using back channels and covert negotiations, she makes a last-gasp attempt to free her son -- the question is, will terrorists listen to a mother's desperate plea?

Co-starring Matt Bomer (White Collar), Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night), and Emmy-winner Edie Falco, "Viper Club" is directed and co-written by Iranian-American filmmaker Maryam Keshavarz, who previously wrote and directed the 2011 Sundance winning Iranian drama "Circumstance."

"Viper Club," which premieres this week at the Toronto International Film Festival, is a YouTube Original Film, and it's scheduled to open in select theaters on October 26th. It will then be added to YouTube's Premium channel sometime next year.
