Elle Fanning (Maleficent) plays an aspiring pop singer in the newly-released teaser trailer for "Teen Spirit," an upcoming British film that marks the directorial debut of 32-year-old English actor Max Minghella (from "The Social Network" and "The Handmaid's Tale"), who is also the son of the late, Oscar-winning filmmaker Anthony Minghella.

The film, which is also written by Max Minghella and co-stars Rebecca Hall, is slated to make its world premiere this week at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Featuring music written and performed by a litany of pop stars that include Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Annie Lennox, Grimes, Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, Tegan & Sara, among others, "Teen Spirit" sees Fanning as Violet, a shy British teen girl whose dreams of becoming a pop sensation come true when she enters an international singing competition and becomes the odds-on favorite.

Produced by "La La Land" producer Fred Berger and executive produced by actor Jamie Bell, the film will feature an original song called "Wildflowers," which was produced by Grammy-winning indie rocker Jack Antonoff and performed by Elle Fanning.
