Who is White Boy Rick?

Well, he wasn't just the youngest FBI informant in history -- he, at age 15, was also one of the biggest cocaine dealers and gunrunners in Detroit, Michigan during the mid 1980s.

Check out the newly-released featurette for "White Boy Rick," the fact-based crime thriller that stars newcomer Richie Merritt as "White Boy Rick" -- and Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey as Rick's two-bit criminal father, Richard Wershe Sr.

The film is directed by acclaimed French-born British helmer Yann Demange ('71, Top Boy), who is currently seen as the front runner to take over directing duties for the next James Bond movie, following the surprise announcement of Danny Boyle's departure.

"White Boy Rick" also stars Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jonathan Majors, Brian Tyree Henry, and RJ Cyler, and is opening in theaters September 21st.

Set in 1980s Detroit at the height of the crack epidemic and the War on Drugs, WHITE BOY RICK is based on the moving true story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison.
