From Jim Hosking, the director of the dark cult oddity "The Greasy Strangler," comes a new absurdist comedy that stars Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Rec, Legion) as an unhappy housewife named Lulu Danger who becomes obsessed with a mysterious hotel lounge performer named "Beverly Luff Linn," who is days away from holding a "magical" event in town.

In addition to Plaza, "An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn For One Magical Night Only" also stars comedian Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine) as the titular lounge performer who, for some unknown reason, strictly wears traditional Scottish attire, complete with plaid breeches and pom-pom-topped berets, and most of the time just grunts and growls at people.

New Zealand comedian Jemaine Clement (What We Do in the Shadows) and British comedian Matt Berry (Toast of London) are also thrown into the mix, while Emile Hirsch (Lone Survivor, Milk) co-stars as Plaza's dirt-bag criminal husband.

Featuring a style of comedy that's bound to rub people the wrong way, "An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn..." premiered to mixed reviews at Sundance this year. It's now slated to hit theaters and VOD on October 19th.

synopsis:
After getting fired by her scheming husband Shane Danger (Emile Hirsch) from his cappuccino shop, dissatisfied Lulu Danger (Aubrey Plaza) is stunned when a TV commercial for "An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn For One Magical Night Only" reveals a mysterious man from her past (Craig Robinson).

When Shane and his bumbling cohorts steal the cashbox from Lulu's adopted vegan brother Adjay (Sam Dissanayake), specialist Colin (Jemaine Clement) enters the fray to retrieve the stolen funds. But Lulu seizes the opportunity to run off in search of her mystery man -- and events only become stranger from there. This is a story of love, theft, athletic swimming, and a magical magical event.
