Netflix has released the official trailer for "The Angel," an 1970s espionage thriller that tells the incredible true story of how the Egyptian President's son-in-law, Ashraf Marwan, became a spy for the Israeli Intelligence, just as the Egyptian government was planning a secret attack against Israel.

The film is based on the book "The Angel: The Egyptian Spy Who Saved Israel" by Uri Bar-Joseph, and it stars Tunisian-Dutch actor Marwan Kenzari (who was recently tapped to play the villain Jafar in the forthcoming Disney live-action adaptation of "Aladdin") as the high-ranking Egyptian government official turned Israeli spy, Ashraf Marwan.

English actor Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) also stars in the Netflix thriller as an Israeli Mossad agent assigned to work with Marwan, who has been given the codename "The Angel."

The film is directed by Israeli filmmaker Ariel Vromen, who previously helmed the action thriller "Criminal" with Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, and Tommy Lee Jones, and who also wrote and directed the critically acclaimed hit-man biopic "The Iceman" with Michael Shannon.

"The Angel" is slated for a September 14th release, only on Netflix.

THE ANGEL is the true story of Ashraf Marwan, who was Egyptian President Nasser's son-in-law, and special advisor and confidant to his successor Anwar Sadat, while simultaneously one of Israeli Intelligence's most precious assets of the 20th century.
