Two-time Oscar-nominated actor Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic, Eastern Promises) plays a 1960s Bronx bouncer who forms an unlikely friendship with an African-American classical concert pianist, played by Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), as they travel together through the Deep South in the official trailer for the upcoming road-trip drama "Green Book."

Filmmaker Peter Farrelly, of "There's Something About Mary" and "Dumb and Dumber" fame, makes his solo feature directing debut with "Green Book." It's also his first foray into dramatic work, and quite possibly his first awards contender.

Inspired by an amazing true story, the 1960s-era film, which is co-written by Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga, and Brian Currie, follows Tony Lip (Mortensen), a rough-and-tumble Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx, who is hired to drive a world-class Black pianist named Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), as he is to continue his concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South. Along the way, while being confronted with racism and bigotry, these two men from radically different backgrounds develop a genuine fellowship and mutual affection for each other.

Co-starring Linda Cardellini (Mad Men, The Founder) as Mortensen's wife, Dolores, "Green Book" is hitting theaters on November 21st.

synopsis:
Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali star in Participant Media and DreamWorks Pictures' Green Book. In his foray into powerfully dramatic work as a feature director, Peter Farrelly helms the film inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.

When Tony Lip (Mortensen), a bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, is hired to drive Dr. Don Shirley (Ali), a world-class Black pianist, on a concert tour from Manhattan to the Deep South, they must rely on "The Green Book" to guide them to the few establishments that were then safe for African-Americans. Confronted with racism, danger -- as well as unexpected humanity and humor -- they are forced to set aside differences to survive and thrive on the journey of a lifetime.
