Climax — Official Trailer

A dance party unexpectedly turns into a night of psychedelic madness when LSD enters the picture.

Check out the new official trailer for "Climax," the latest trippy, dream-like film from Argentine-French provocateur Gaspar Noe, who previously made the controversial cult films "Irreversible," "I Stand Alone," "Enter the Void," and "Love."

Algerian-born French hip-hop dancer turned film actress Sofia Boutella (The Mummy, Star Trek Beyond, Atomic Blonde) is leading the cast, which is entirely made up of professional dancers.

Set primarily inside a dance rehearsal hall, the film follows a troupe of dancers as they come together for one last practice session. But what started out as a night of fun festivities has quickly devolved into a nightmarish soiree.

But what is the reason for this hallucinatory madness? It seems a mysterious culprit has spiked a bowl of sangria with LSD drugs, which pushes every dancer at the party to the edge of insanity.

"Climax," which premiered to strong reviews at the Cannes Film Festival, will be released theatrically later in the year, via A24 Films.

From director Gaspar Noe comes a hypnotic, hallucinatory, and ultimately hair-raising depiction of a party that descends into delirium over the course of one wintry night. In Climax, a troupe of young dancers gathers in a remote and empty school building to rehearse.

Following an unforgettable opening performance lit by virtuoso cinematographer Benoit Debie and shot by Noe himself, the troupe begins an all-night celebration that turns nightmarish as the dancers discover they've been pounding cups of sangria laced with potent LSD. Tracking their journey from jubilation to chaos and full-fledged anarchy, Noe observes crushes, rivalries, and violence amid a collective psychedelic meltdown.

Starring Sofia Boutella and a cast of professional dancers, Climax is Noe's most brazen and visionary statement yet.
