BBC has released the official international trailer for "Black Earth Rising," an eight-part British television drama that stars Emmy-and-Golden Globe-winning actor John Goodman and Michaela Coel, the creator and star of the London-set comedy series "Chewing Gum."

Acclaimed British television writer-director Hugo Blick, who previously created the Emmy-nominated Maggie Gyllenhaal-starring spy series "The Honourable Woman," writes and directs "Black Earth Rising," which tells a suspenseful tale about a Rwandan-born British prosecutor (played by Coel) who is sent to Africa to investigate a high-profile case involving the Rwandan genocide.

Goodman plays Coel's boss, a big-shot American lawyer in London who specializes in investigating international war crime cases.

The mini-series will premiere later in the year on BBC Two. It will also make its stateside debut on Netflix, though a release date has yet to be announced.

Black Earth Rising is a new international thriller about the prosecution of international war crimes and the West's relationship with contemporary Africa written, directed and produced by BAFTA-winner Hugo Blick (The Honourable Woman, The Shadow Line).
