Luz — Teaser Trailer

German-born filmmaker Tilman Singer is earning a ton of accolades for his first ever feature film, "Luz," a supernatural-tinged art-house thriller that just played to rave reviews at the Fantasia Film Festival a couple of weeks ago.

The film, which involves around the themes of demonic possession and hypnosis, has been loosely described as a horror mind-bender that was done in the style of the Italian Giallo films of the 1970s and '80s.

Shot in grainy 16mm with nods to the eerie atmosphere of early David Cronenberg thrillers, "Luz" tells the dream-like story of a Chilean female cabdriver who, while bleeding from the head, appears to be possessed by a supernatural power. When she walks into a rundown police station at a German city, she is soon subjected to a series of interrogations performed by a police psychologist using hypnosis to draw out her memories -- and possibly her inner demons as well.

Starring Luana Velis, Jan Bluthardt, and Julia Riedler, "Luz" doesn't have an official release date, as of yet, but will likely continue to run on the festival circuit. In the meantime, enjoy the film's newly-released festival teaser trailer, which was posted by

A rainy night. A dazed and numb young cabdriver, Luz, drags herself into the brightly lit entrance of a rundown police station. Across town in a nightspot, a woman seductively engages a police psychiatrist in a mysterious conversation. Later, supervised by his colleagues, the doctor puts Luz in a state of hypnosis that initiates a series of flashbacks, unfolding the events leading to her arrival. Bit by bit, Luz’s unorthodox interrogation makes old memories and demons come to light.
