Jason Bateman is going from being a money launderer to possibly a killer (or at least, a legit criminal) in the new official trailer for Season 2 of the acclaimed Netflix crime series "Ozark."

Bateman is reprising his Emmy-nominated role of Marty Byrde, a crooked, yet brilliant financial analyst who, in the first season, was forced to move his two-timing wife (played splendidly by Laura Linney) and teenage children (Sofia Hublitz and Skylar Gaertner) from the suburbs of Chicago to the backwoods of the Missouri Ozarks after his employer, a notorious Mexican drug cartel, discovered his now-dead financial partner was skimming millions of dollars from them.

So, in order to get back into the drug cartel's good graces, Marty has made an impossible deal -- he promised to launder 500 million dollars in five years by using the Missouri Ozarks as the hub for his operations. Of course, if Marty fails to live up to his promises, he and his entire family will end up dead.

Created by "The Accountant" screenwriter Bill Dubuque and film producer Mark Williams, "Ozark" also stars Julia Garner (FX's The Americans) as Ruth Langmore, a young, clever Missourian hooligan who comes from a family of hillbilly outlaws.

Peter Mullan (HBO's Westworld) and Lisa Emery (Marvel's Jessica Jones) also co-star as Jacob and Darlene Snell, a married farming couple who are secretly the heads of a deadly Missourian drug gang.

Additionally, Jason Butler Harner (Ray Donovan) plays Roy Petty, an extremely determined FBI agent who desperately wants to arrest Marty and bring down the cartel.

Season 2 will add two-time Oscar nominee Janet McTeer to the cast, playing a high-power attorney with ties to the cartel who becomes Marty's new adversary.

Bateman will once again direct the opening episode of Ozark's new season, which is set to premiere August 31st.

A financial adviser drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss.
