According to the U.S. government, Mark Wahlberg does not exist. Yet, he leads an elite squad of "very real" operatives in the final trailer for "Mile 22."

The action spy thriller, which is marking Wahlberg's fourth collaboration with director Peter Berg (Patriots Day, Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor), follows CIA intelligence officer James Silva (Wahlberg) as his tactical team is tasked with transporting a highly valuable asset through 22 miles of hell.

Indonesian martial arts star Iko Uwais (of "The Raid" and "The Raid 2" fame) co-stars as the "asset" while Silva's team members are played by The Walking Dead's Lauren Cohan and former UFC star Ronda Rousey, with John Malkovich playing a government liaison.

Newcomer Lea Carpenter wrote the script from a story she co-wrote with Graham Roland, the co-creator of the upcoming Amazon series "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan."

"Mile 22" is slated for August 17th theatrical release.

In a visceral modern thriller from Peter Berg, the director of "Lone Survivor," Mark Wahlberg stars as James Silva, an operative of the CIA's most highly-prized and least understood unit. Aided by a top-secret tactical command team, Silva must retrieve and transport an asset who holds life-threatening information to Mile 22 for extraction before the enemy closes in.
