Sean Penn gazes up at the stars in the official teaser trailer for "The First," Hulu's upcoming mission-to-mars drama series, which hails from acclaimed "House of Cards" creator Beau Willimon.

It's the first regular TV gig for the Academy Award winner, as he plays Tom Hagerty, a veteran astronaut preparing for the first ever human mission to Mars.

Set in the year 2030, the streaming drama chronicles the day-to-day lives of Tom and his fellow astronauts as they train for their revolutionary space mission.

Greenlit for eight episodes, the series also stars Natascha McElhone as Laz Ingram, a visionary aerospace magnate who is spearheading the mission-to-mars program.

The cast also includes Melissa George, LisaGay Hamilton, Oded Fehr, and James Ransone, among others.

"The First" is set to premiere Friday, September 14th on Hulu.
