Acclaimed British filmmaker Mike Leigh (Mr. Turner, Secrets & Lies) returns this year with a sprawling historical epic about the Peterloo Massacre of 1819.

The film, for which a teaser trailer has been released, is depicting the events leading up to the infamous massacre in Manchester, England, during which the British Cavalry charged, with sabers drawn, into a peaceful crowd of 80,000 protesters who were calling for parliamentary reform.

15 people were killed during the incident while approximately 400-700 ended up being injured, either trampled by horses or lacerated by sabers or bayonets.

The film, which is also written by Leigh, features a strong ensemble cast that includes Rory Kinnear, Maxine Peake, Tim McInnerny, Christopher Eccleston, Leo Bill, David Bamber and more.

"Peterloo" will be receiving a U.S. theatrical release on November 9th, through Amazon Studios. Watch the teaser, above.
