A 13-year-old kid from a troubled home gains a sense of belonging when hanging out with a bunch of young punk skateboarders.

Jonah Hill gets nostalgic and surprisingly earnest as he makes his directorial debut with this coming-of-age skateboarder drama "Mid90s," for which a trailer has been released.

The mid-90s-set film, which is also written by Hill, stars Sunny Suljic (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) as Stevie, a young teenage skateboarder, who finds himself joining a group of misfits and punks as they skate through downtown Los Angeles while getting in trouble with the law.

Co-starring in the film is rising star Lucas Hedges, who's perhaps best known for playing sympathetic sensitive teenagers in "Manchester by the Sea" and "Ladybird," but gets to play against type here, as a mean bastard -- Stevie's older and physically abusive brother.

"Mid90s" is coming to theaters October 19th. Watch the trailer, above.
