Shazam! — Official Trailer

Warner Bros has released the first official trailer for "Shazam!," the upcoming DC comic book movie, which has been described as being the superhero version of the Tom Hanks comedy "Big."

Directed by David F. Sandberg, who previously made the hit horror thrillers "Lights Out" and "Annabelle: Creation," the film is essentially a body-switching tale about a 14-year-old kid named Billy Batson (played by Disney actor Asher Angel), who is granted mystical powers by a mysterious ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). Billy soon realizes that he can instantly transform himself into an adult superhero (played by Zachary Levi, from TV's Chuck) by shouting out one single word -- Shazam!

Jack Dylan Grazer (one of the kid actors from the horror movie "IT") plays Billy's best friend, Freddy. He's a superhero enthusiast who helps Shazam with understanding his role of being a great hero. Meanwhile the film's main villain is played by Mark Strong (Kingsman, Kick-Ass) as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, an evil genius with newly-acquired telekinetic powers who wants to conquer the world.

"Shazam!" is currently slated for an April 5th theatrical release.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word -- SHAZAM! -- this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart -- inside a ripped, godlike body -- Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong).
